Special Message for Homeowners (and for all other real property owners) who purchased their property in 2014 or 2015!!

There is a Georgia law that states that the county cannot assess your property for the year following the year that you purchased the property higher than what you paid for the property. However, I see this law being routinely ignored by the taxing authorities. So, if you purchased your home in either 2014 or 2015 – take a look at your tax bill for the year following the year of your purchase – if your assessment is higher than what you paid for your property, it is an illegal assessment and you have the right to have it changed.
This law is state wide and applies to all county taxing authorities throughout the State of Georgia.
